On April 8, 2024, the American Psychiatry Association (APA) hosted a national webinar for all incoming international medical graduate (IMG) residents titled, “Post Match: The Transition to Residency for Matched IMGs”.
This webinar addresses challenges facing international medical graduates transitioning to residency training in the United States. In addition to acquiring visas, bank accounts, driver's licenses, housing, etc., residents face significant acculturation challenges.
During the webinar, incoming IMG residents received guidance to ease their transition. The webinar was moderated by Raman Marwaha, MD, President, Caucus of IMG Psychiatrists, American Psychiatry Association. The diverse panel of speakers also included members of Tower Health’s own DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) subcommittee to provide their expertise: Abhishek Allam, MD, PGY-2 Psychiatry Resident at Phoenixville Hospital, and Olive Sarubbi, Systems Director of GME and UME, Tower Health Academic Affairs.
