Lung Cancer Screening Program

Phoenixville Hospital is designated by American College of Radiology as a Lung Cancer Screening Center. Our Lung Cancer Screening Program features LDCT scanners, advanced technology that produces exceptional images to help physicians detect lung cancer in early stages.

We are dedicated to the early detection of cancer through screening services. As with most cancers, early detection will greatly increase the chances of survival and recovery.

Who Qualifies for a Screening?

Lung cancer screening with LDCT has become the standard recommendation for patients who meet all of the following criteria:

  • 50-80 years of age
  • Asymptomatic (no sign or symptoms of lung cancer)
  • Cigarette tobacco smoking history of at least 20 pack years
  • Current smoker or one who has quit smoking within the last 15 years

*As covered by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

How the Screening Works

This 15-minute procedure is a painless, non-invasive test using low-dose X-rays. Detailed, three-dimensional images of your entire chest are taken in seconds. These images of the lungs help physicians to detect tumors in early stages, when they are more treatable. You will be guided through the process by a Lung Navigator, who will answer your questions regarding physician consultations and provide personal attention. Our Lung Navigator will also work with your lung screening team to coordinate your care, including yearly follow-ups, as needed.

To contact our Navigator, call 610-983-1912.
