Programs and Initiatives
Stop the Bleed
We offer "Stop the Bleed" training at no cost for local businesses and community groups. Part of a nationwide program, Stop the Bleed teaches bystanders life-saving actions to take in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. To schedule a free training, email jennifer.barney@towerhealth.org.
Trauma Survivor Network
- National Trauma Survivor Day - In May, the TSN community celebrates National Trauma Survivors Day (NTSD). This celebration seeks to draw inspiration from and provide support to survivors of traumatic injuries and their caregivers, opening the road to their recovery from trauma.
- Reading Trauma Center Peer Group - Meet with peers who have experienced an injury and have similar experiences, challenges, and concerns.
- Reading Trauma Peer Visitor - TSN peer visitors have experienced a traumatic injury, such as a car crash, fall, gunshot wound, or work-related injury, and have made a successful adaptation to their life after injury. Peer visitors are not professional counselors, therapists, or advisors (medical, legal, or otherwise). They volunteer their time because they want to help others like themselves.
Fall Prevention
Reading Hospital Trauma Center belongs to the Berks County Falls Free Coalition (BCFFC), a partnership between local and state organizations dedicated to the prevention and reduction of falls and fall-related injuries. BCFFC supports healthcare professionals, family caregivers, and older adults by offering evidence-based programs that promote education, improved mobility, and active lifestyles through a focus on comprehensive wellness.
