Reading Hospital's Mobile Mammography Coach makes getting a mammogram easy, quick, and convenient - with the same state-of-the-art technology and expert staff found at any of our breast imaging centers.

The purpose of the Mobile Mammography Coach is to increase access to breast screenings and to raise patient awareness on the importance of early detection when it comes to breast cancer. Mobile Mammography Events

Appointments are required to receive a screening mammogram at our Mobile Mammography Coach. To schedule an appointment, call 1-833-34-TOWER and have your health insurance policy number and primary care physician's contact information handy.

Mobile Mammography FAQs

Why do I need a mammogram?

A mammogram is the best screening tool for early detection of breast cancer. One in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime, and most don't have a family history of the disease. The American College of Radiology recommends that all women get their first mammogram at the age of 40.

Can anyone get a breast screening at the Mobile Mammography Coach?

It is important to talk with your primary care provider or OB/GYN to determine the age at which you should begin screening and what type of screening is most effective for you, based on your breast cancer risk.

• For women at average risk of breast cancer, annual screening mammograms should begin at age 40.
• For women found to be at higher risk of breast cancer, annual screening mammograms may begin earlier, as directed by their medical provider.

Do I need to schedule an appointment?

Yes. To schedule an appointment, call 484-628-8611. Have your health insurance policy number and your primary care physician's contact information handy.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring your insurance cards and photo ID.

Will my insurance pay for my screening?

Preventive screenings are covered under most insurance plans.

What if I don't have insurance?

Reading Hospital is committed to saving lives through early detection. Our Patient Financial Assistance Program will work to enroll women who are under- or uninsured and meet eligibility requirements. If you have any questions, please contact our Reading Hospital Financial Counselors at 484-628-7400.

How should I prepare for my appointment and what can I expect?

To make your experience as comfortable as possible: 

• Do not wear any deodorant, lotion, or cream around your chest area the day of your appointment.
• On the day of your appointment, wear a two-piece outfit, so you only need to remove your top. We will provide a gown for you to wear during the screening.
• The mobile mammography unit is a spacious coach with two changing rooms for your privacy.

How long will it take to get results and who can I talk to about them?

A radiologist will provide a report after your mammogram. If you are enrolled in MyTowerHealth patient portal, your results will be available in the platform as soon as the report is completed. If you are not enrolled in MyTowerHealth, you will receive a letter from Reading Hospital with your results within two weeks. If you do not receive your mammogram letter, please contact Reading Hospital Imaging at Spring Ridge Breast Health Center: 484-628-3108. To enroll in the MyTowerHealth patient portal, go to towerhealth.org/mytowerhealth.

What if my results are abnormal?

Reading Hospital will follow up with you and your primary care physician to schedule further testing. There are many reasons why mammograms are abnormal. In fact, the American College of Radiology estimates that only 1 in 10 patients called back for additional testing are found to have cancer.

Will my breast screening be as accurate as one I would get in a doctor's office or imaging center?

Yes. Our Mobile Mammography Coach has the same professional staff and state-of-the art technology found at any Reading Hospital Screening Mammography Imaging Center. Our highly trained and experienced radiologists will review your scan.
