Success Story - George Masabrook

Back to Stories
George Masabrook shares his success story at Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing
"I want to thank the great staff. I don’t think I could have come back this much without everyone’s help.” -George Masabrook

In His Words...

“I can’t believe how far I've come. I owe it to Marge (significant other), she’s been a great help. And I want to thank the great staff. I don’t think I could have come back this much without everyone’s help.”

The Full Story

George was admitted to the acute rehabilitation unit after a stroke that impaired his ability to utilize the entire left side of his body. His acute hospital stay was complicated by a pulmonary embolism, a deep vein thrombosis in his arm, and hemiplegia in his left arm and leg.

On admission to acute rehab, George required extensive assistance to perform all mobility and self-care tasks. He was admitted to a pureed diet and had difficulty swallowing. He also had difficulty with his vision and memory. After a course of intensive inpatient rehabilitation, he was discharged home at a supervision level for bed mobility, transfers, and wheelchair mobility.

He is now eating regular foods and has shown excellent progress with his vision and memory skills. His determination, work ethic, and positive attitude played a huge part in his journey, and he continues to be an inspiration to all!
