Reading Hospital and GoggleWorks Center for the Arts To Host Screening of Mindfulness Movie, 'Walk With Me'

On Saturday, January 20, at noon, Vinti Shah, DO, Chief, Section of Palliative Medicine, at Reading Hospital, will host a screening of the movie, "Walk With Me," in the Boscov Film Theatre at GoggleWorks, 201 Washington St., in Reading.

"Walk with Me," which is narrated by British screen actor Benedict Cumberbatch, is a cinematic journey into the world of mindfulness and the famed Zen Buddhist master Thich Nhat Hanh. The film captures the daily routine and rituals of monks and nuns who practice mindfulness at the famous secluded monastery of Plum Village in the South West of France.

At the screening, Dr. Shah will talk briefly about mindfulness and its benefits. The publication, "Psychology Today," describes mindfulness as "a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to experience."

As a healthcare provider, Reading Hospital is committed to helping patients, community members, and employees and medical staff achieve health of body, mind and spirit.

"Walk With Me" is being shown through private screenings around the world. The Reading event will cost $10 per person ($8 for Reading Hospital and GoggleWorks employees). Seating is limited. Tickets can be purchased in advanced at goggleworks.org/event/walk-with-me through 7:00pm on January 19. Remaining seats will be available at the Boscov Film Theatre box office (located inside GoggleWorks) 30 minutes prior to the show.
