We can treat and diagnose a wide range of medical conditions. The interventional department uses a variety of imaging techniques including fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and CT to perform their procedures. Many times, tools such as stents or filters are inserted into the body to treat a disease. Interventional radiology can be an alternative to a surgical procedure to treat a patient, and can even eliminate the need for a hospital stay.

Biopsies are also performed in the interventional department. Angiography, an x-ray showing the blood vessels in the body, is also performed in the interventional suite. If a blockage is seen by the radiologist during the exam, in many cases it can be treated immediately.

Reading Hospital

Interventional Radiology is located on the first floor of R building in a 14,000-square-foot facility located on Reading Hospital’s West Reading Campus. Interventional Radiology is just a few steps from patient drop-off area in the covered 5th Avenue Garage.

Inside, you will find a patient waiting area with easy access to examination and treatment rooms, as well as private consultation rooms. This department has its own dedicated CT scan and ultrasound technology. Many procedures are performed on an outpatient basis.
