About Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology can treat and diagnose a wide range of medical conditions. Our interventional department uses a variety of imaging techniques including fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and CT to perform their procedures. Many times, tools such as stents or filters are inserted into the body to treat a disease. Interventional radiology can be an alternative to a surgical procedure to treat a patient, and can even eliminate the need for a hospital stay.

Biopsies are also performed in the interventional department. Angiography, an x-ray showing the blood vessels in the body, is also performed in the interventional suite. If a blockage is seen by the radiologist during the exam, in many cases it can be treated immediately.

Chemo embolizations, uterine artery embolizationans, and biopsies are a few of the other procedures performed in the interventional department.
