Reading Hospital Road Run returns to the hospital's West Reading Campus this Sunday, October 13. Hosted by The Friends of Reading Hospital, the event consists of a half marathon, 5K, and 1-mile fun run/walk that will race down the beautiful and scenic tree-lined streets of West Reading and Wyomissing.

Half marathon participants will also run an early loop across the Buttonwood Street Bridge, passing Reading Area Community College and the Reading Public Museum before entering shaded park roads along the Wyomissing Creek. All races will begin on Seventh Avenue in front of Reading Hospital HealthPlex. The Half Marathon will take off at 8 a.m., the 1-mile Fun Run/Walk at 8:10 a.m., and the 5K at 8:30 a.m. A post-race celebration will be held in the lower-level auditorium of the Scottish Rite Cathedral.

"Reading Hospital Road Run is a fantastic community event," said William M. Jennings, President and CEO, Reading Hospital. "The generosity of The Friends of Reading Hospital and Tower Sponsor Diamond Credit Union will ensure our patients and community have additional access to life-saving programs funded by The Friends."

All Road Run proceeds benefit programs funded by The Friends of Reading Hospital, including HeartSAFE Berks County, Telemedicine iPads for EMS vehicles, Cold Cap Therapy at McGlinn Cancer Institute, "Stop the Bleed" emergency kits, vehicles and supplies for the Street Medicine program.

All half marathon finishers will receive a finisher's medal, and cash prizes will be given to the top three male and female finishers of the half marathon and the 5K. Additional prizes will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group and team division of both races.

Registration will be available the morning of the race until 8 a.m. Please visit rhroadrun.com for additional information and a full list of sponsors and community partners that make this event possible, including the 2019 Tower Sponsor, Diamond Credit Union.
