Becker's Healthcare has named Reading Hospital to its 2017 list of "100 hospitals and health systems with great neurosurgery and spine programs."

Becker's Healthcare notes that the organizations on the list have extensive neuroscience and spine programs, providing treatment and cutting-edge research into neurosurgical disorders. It mentions that many of the hospitals and health systems featured have earned top honors for medical excellence, outcomes and patient experience in their spine and brain surgery departments.

The description of Reading Hospital on the published list reads: "Reading Hospital has a neurocritical care unit that specializes in emergency brain and spine care. Last year (2016), the hospital opened the Reading HealthPlex for Advanced Surgical & Patient Care, which has 24-surgical suites to advance surgery at the hospital. Reading Hospital is a Blue Distinction Center for spine surgery."

Becker's Healthcare developed the list by examining national rankings and awards for neurosurgery, neurological care and spine surgery. It considered U.S. News & World Report national rankings for neurology and neurosurgery; CareChex national and regional rankings for neurological care; and Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery designation to develop this list.
