Reading Hospital announced today that Rosemary Wurster, DNP, MPH, RN, NEA-BC, CEN, has been appointed Chief Nursing Officer for Reading Hospital, effective June 7, 2020.

In this role, Rosemary will be responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial performance of nursing and patient care services. She will provide leadership by in advancing Reading Hospital's strong vision for excellence, relationship-based care philosophy, the professional practice model, and strategic and quality plans that align with the strategic priorities of Tower Health and Reading Hospital. She will be responsible for sustaining the standards of nursing practice throughout Reading Hospital and its entities, ensuring that the practice environment aligns with the ANCC Magnet Model and supports excellence in practice and care delivery.

Rosemary joined Tower Health in April 2019 as Vice President, Nursing Operations, Analytics and Finance, where she has led nursing strategy and activities across the system related to nursing operations and finance, while also managing the annual budget for nursing operations at Reading Hospital. During her tenure, she has also been a key contributor in leading the Nightingale Program at Reading Hospital using predictive analytics to create focused, accurate, and dynamic nurse staffing patterns. Recently, Rosemary stepped in as interim CNO for Reading Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic, serving on the Hospital's Incident Command team and providing leadership to nurses during this time of unprecedented challenge. 

Prior to joining Tower Health, Rosemary spent more than two decades with Main Line Health System, starting her career as a staff nurse and advancing into leadership positions including System Vice President, Nursing Operations; Vice President, Patient Care Services at Riddle Hospital; and Director of Magnet and Professional Excellence.

Rosemary received her BSN and MPH from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Drexel University. She is a Certified Emergency Nurse and achieved advanced certification in Nursing Administration. She is a member of several professional organizations where she has held regional leadership positions. Rosemary has received numerous awards for her work and regularly volunteers her skills, knowledge, and expertise for the benefit of others.
