One night after work, Josh Haught stopped for gas and heard someone call out his name. He didn’t recognize the young man, who said, “You may not remember me, but you were my nurse in the ICU.”
The young man explained he had been in a terrible car accident several months prior and was appreciative of the heartfelt care and attention he received from Josh. Those are the moments that stick with Josh, even 20 years after beginning his career in critical care at Reading Hospital – and they are the moments that shape healthcare in our community.
For 158 years, Reading Hospital has been the heartbeat of Berks County – caring for generations of families through life's most exciting and vulnerable moments. To celebrate that incredible legacy and shape the future of healthcare in our community, we’re hosting our 1st Annual Reading Hospital Champions of Care Dinner on September 11, 2025, 5 to 8 p.m., at the DoubleTree Hotel in Reading.
Proceeds will benefit our award-winning Intensive Care Services, and the incredible work that Josh and his colleagues do every day.
About the Champions of Care Dinner
Reading Hospital has the region’s only Level I Trauma Center, and this year’s Champions of Care Dinner will benefit our award-winning Intensive Care Services. The need for support has never been more urgent as our ICU operates at 100% capacity. Expanding both our space and life-saving resources to accommodate more local patients in ICU, Trauma Intensive Care Unit, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is critical.
In addition, we are excited to honor three Healthcare Champions who are doing tremendous work for Reading Hospital and the community:
