The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a quality program administered by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), has granted accredited status to Reading Hospital. To achieve NAPBC accreditation, Reading Hospital demonstrated compliance with the NAPBC standards for leadership, clinical services, research, community outreach, professional education, and quality improvement for patients. Breast centers seeking NAPBC accreditation undergo a site visit every three years.

“I’m extremely proud of the team at McGlinn Cancer Institute,” said Charles F. Barbera, MD, Reading Hospital President and CEO. “Our team not only met the standards set by the American College of Surgeons, but exceeded them.”

As an NAPBC-accredited center, Reading Hospital is committed to maintaining excellence in the delivery of comprehensive, patient-centered, multidisciplinary treatment resulting in high-quality care for patients with breast disease. Patients can be confident that their breast care team includes healthcare professionals from a variety of disciplines who are committed to working together to provide the best care available throughout their entire course of treatment. NAPBC accreditation means patients receiving care at McGlinn Cancer Institute also have access to information on clinical trials, new treatment options, genetic counseling, and patient-centered services that include psychosocial support, rehabilitation services, and survivorship care.

“Congratulations to the entire team at Reading Hospital for this recognition from the NAPBC,” said Suzanne Wenderoth, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Tower Health and Reading Hospital. “Our team puts in countless hours to provide the highest-quality care to our patients, and this accreditation demonstrates their ongoing commitment.”

Michael Brown, MD, Medical Director for McGlinn Cancer Institute at Reading Hospital, added, “Caring for the women in our community as they bravely navigate a breast disease diagnosis is an honor for the team at Reading Hospital. Each day we focus on providing the best care to our patients.”
