On Friday, January 19, Reading Hospital Foundation will host a dedication ceremony for the "Sergei and Linda Szortyka Procedure Prep and Recovery Area" and celebrate the generosity of the Szortykas, who recently gave a generous gift to Reading Hospital Foundation in support of neuroscience research.

The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Reading HealthPlex Healing Garden Lobby, Ground Level. Remarks from Clint Matthews, President and Chief Executive Officer, Tower Health and Reading Hospital, and Chris Kraras, Reading Hospital Foundation President, will begin at 11:45 a.m.

The Szortykas' gift to the Foundation supports the creation of a research partnership between Reading Hospital and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. The current research partnership includes the deep brain stimulation program at Reading Hospital's Movement Disorders Clinic and leading-edge approaches to surgery at its Spine and Brain Neurosurgery Center.

Reading Hospital Foundation, which funds initiatives that improve healthcare in the community through innovation, education and research, is recognizing the Szortykas' generosity by dedicating the Procedure Prep and Recovery Area in their honor. The large prep and recovery area is adjacent to new procedure rooms in the Reading HealthPlex. The area provides patients with private rooms and close proximity to nurses, whose desks are right outside the rooms.
