Reading Hospital – Tower Health announced today that Zeshan Anwar, MD, MHA, FACP, SFHM, has been appointed Chief, Section of Inpatient Internal Medicine, as well as Director of Hospitalist Services, effective January 5, 2021.

In this role, Dr. Anwar will be responsible for working supportively with all Adult Hospitalist Medicine providers, working cooperatively with nursing, pharmacy, care management, diagnostic, and therapeutic departments, and supporting services to enhance the quality of clinical care. This includes working with other leaders to utilize evidence-based guidelines to provide more effective, more efficient, and more timely care.

Prior to joining Tower Health, Dr. Anwar served as Vice Chair, Department of Medicine and Medical Director, Hospitalist Program, at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg, PA. He brings several years of experience teaching medical students, having worked as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine since 2014. From 2010 to 2013, he served as a Hospitalist, Physician Advisor, as well as the Quality Improvement Chair for Lock Haven Hospital in Lock Haven, PA.

Dr. Anwar received his Executive Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Southern California Sol Price School of Public Policy and completed his internal medicine residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. Dr. Anwar also speaks three languages – English, Urdu, and Punjabi. At one time, he also volunteered as a Vaccinator in the UNICEF program of mass immunization for polio in Pakistan.
