April 1, 2021 - Each day, 17 people in the United States die while waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. Tower Health is pleased to join the Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) and Gift of Life Donor Program and organ procurement organizations throughout the country to inspire hope, advocacy, and passion as part of a statewide campaign to promote organ and tissue donation. Gift of Life encourages individuals to register to become an organ, tissue, and cornea donor.

March 31, 2021 - Debbie Rahn, EdD, MSN, RN, Director of Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences (RHSHS), was recently elected as Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) for a one-year term.

February 17, 2021 - Beginning December 28, 2020, 10 Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences (RHSHS) nurses began assisting in the hospital’s COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic in various positions.

January 20, 2021 - Tower Health is following Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and PA Department of Health (DOH) guidelines for prioritizing distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.

January 12, 2021 - Reading Hospital – Tower Health received approval to add six new Residency and Fellowship programs in Nephrology, Plastic Surgery, Sleep Medicine, and Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine.

December 23, 2020 - As COVID-19 cases continue to increase in Berks County, Reading Hospital – Tower Health encourages the community to consider alternate care locations for non-life-threatening, but urgent, health issues. Tower Health offers several in-person and virtual care options for patients, including: 

October 20, 2020 - Reading Hospital – Tower Health has been named one of the top 50 best teaching hospitals in the United States, according to a ranking released by Washington Monthly Magazine and the Lown Institute.

August 10, 2020 - Karen Restifo, MD, JD, has been named regional vice dean of Drexel University College of Medicine's Tower Health campus in West Reading, effective September 1, 2020.
