February 10, 2022 - Tower Health announced today that Charles F Barbera, MD, MBA, MPH, FACEP, has been named Senior Vice President and Associate Chief Medical Officer (effective January 18), and John Derderian DO, FHM, has been named Vice President, Inpatient Medicine and Transition of Care Services (effective February 1).

January 20, 2022 - Tower Health announced today that its bariatric surgery center has been accredited as a Comprehensive Center with Adolescent and Obesity Medicine Qualifications by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®), a joint Quality Program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).

January 18, 2022 - Charles F. Barbera, MD, MBA, MPH, FACEP has been named Chair of the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF) Board of Directors for a one-year term.

January 6, 2022 - As COVID-19 volumes surge in the community with Delta and the new Omicron variant, Tower Health is providing the community with guidance for testing, accessing care, and current quarantine guidelines. Tower Health is following Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance on vaccination recommendations and safety guidelines to protect the community and our staff against COVID-19 and seasonal illnesses.

January 3, 2022 - Tower Health today announced the satellite office of Penn Transplant Institute (PTI) opened at Reading Hospital on December 14. Pre- and post-transplant care at Reading Hospital are now being provided by the Penn Transplant Institute, and transplant surgeries will be performed at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

November 8, 2021 - Tower Health announced that, following the FDA’s Emergency Use Authorization, Tower Health Medical Group (THMG) Pediatrics – Wyomissing, St. Christopher’s Pediatric Associates Northeast Pediatrics, Reading Hospital Children’s Health Center, and Reading Hospital Family Healthcare Center will offer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for current patients ages 5 to 11 by appointment.

November 4, 2021 - On Friday, October 22, three Tower Health nurses earned the 2021 Nightingale Award of Pennsylvania at the 32nd Anniversary Awards Gala.

October 7, 2021 – Tower Health has earned the 2021 College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) Digital Health Most Wired recognition as a certified level 8 for Acute and Ambulatory settings.
