• The PREP portfolio, peer review and self-appraisal are fundamental components of the performance appraisal process.
• The AACN Synergy and Benner’s Novice to Expert models serve as the framework for the Nursing Professional Recognition for Excellence Program.
• Performance expectations specific for each clinical level are based on Synergy nurse competencies and Benner’s five stages of nursing expertise.
