April 1, 2021 - Each day, 17 people in the United States die while waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. Tower Health is pleased to join the Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) and Gift of Life Donor Program and organ procurement organizations throughout the country to inspire hope, advocacy, and passion as part of a statewide campaign to promote organ and tissue donation. Gift of Life encourages individuals to register to become an organ, tissue, and cornea donor.

March 22, 2021 - Tower Health announced that Suzanne Wenderoth, MD, FACP, has been named Executive Vice President, CEO Physician Enterprise and Interim Chief Medical Officer for the seven-hospital system. In addition to leading quality and safety initiatives for the system, Dr. Wenderoth will have primary responsibility for the comprehensive alignment of all physicians and providers who practice at Tower Health – both employed and independent community-based clinicians – including the Tower Health Medical Group, Tower Health Providers, facility Chief Medical Officers, and others.

March 4, 2021 - Tower Health announced today that as of Saturday, February 27, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children successfully launched Epic, the electronic health record (EHR).

February 22, 2021 - P. Sue Perrotty, retired bank executive and community leader, has been named interim president and CEO of Tower Health. Perrotty, a member of the Tower Health board of directors since July 2019, replaces Clint Matthews, who has announced his retirement after 10 years of service to the organization.

February 17, 2021 - Beginning December 28, 2020, 10 Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences (RHSHS) nurses began assisting in the hospital’s COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic in various positions.

February 15, 2021 - Even as distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine accelerates within our community, members of the public may have questions about how distribution works and why it can seem so difficult to get the vaccine.

February 9, 2021 - On January 20, Tower Health announced it was looking to build a team of volunteers to support the health system’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts. In one week, the health system received more than 500 applications.

February 3, 2021 - Tower Behavioral Health is now providing inpatient care for adolescents. The facility’s new Inspiration unit, which is now open and accepting patients, features age-appropriate inpatient services for adolescents ages 14-17 who have been struggling with mental and behavioral health disorders.

January 27, 2021 - While cases of influenza-like illness are currently low in the region, Tower Health physicians are encouraging parents and guardians to schedule an appointment for children who have not yet received the annual flu vaccine to protect them from seasonal influenza.
