From Patient to Parent at Yardley Pediatrics
When Jenna brings her children to Yardley Pediatrics, it feels like she's coming home. Jenna was once a patient herself and now entrusts the same team with her children’s care after a pivotal appointment that changed her life.
When Jenna was five years old, she went in for what seemed like a routine visit to treat a possible ear infection. During the exam, her pediatrician noticed a small lump on her leg. At first, it did not seem alarming, but something about this felt different to Jenna’s care team. Her doctor called in another healthcare provider for a second look and together they made a critical decision: Jenna should go to the emergency room immediately.
“They caught something no one else would have - and they saved my life.”
Within days, her family received life-altering news - Jenna had stage III bone cancer. From that point on, Yardley Pediatrics became home away from home during an incredibly difficult journey, not just a doctor’s office. Jenna underwent treatment that ultimately led to the amputation of her leg. Through all the ups and downs, Jenna’s team at Yardley Pediatrics stood by her side and shaped the rest of her life. Today, Jenna is a nurse, inspired by the compassion and dedication she witnessed as a young patient.
“You’d think it would have scared me away, but it did the opposite. I grew to love the whole healthcare world.”
When Jenna became pregnant with her first child, there was no question where her family would receive pediatric care. As a parent, Jenna feels the same level of care and comfort that defined her childhood health battle. Jenna chose Yardley Pediatrics because of the deep relationship of trust built over decades, during both the hardest and happiest moments of her life. Her children now carry this legacy as they receive the best pediatric care in the region.
