Quality and safety metrics are the foundation that advances our commitment to ensure your child gets the best care they need when they need it.
We do this by participating with several independent organizations that monitor and grade care based on key performance indicators.
Compassionate and Safe Care
Because our commitment to quality is an integral part of who we are, we have introduced a series of targeted initiatives in the areas of patient care and safety, reporting, physician and nursing practices, medical staff governance and other important issues.
This initiative is designed to ensure clinical care safety and build programs to support our efforts. It also focuses on improving reporting systems in our hospitals and improving the ways we communicate performance results.
The Best Care Is Right Here
St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children’s quality and safety is top in the nation in many key indicators. This means we rank higher than the national average:
- St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children is part of a patient safety research group that received the prestigious 2016 John M. Eisenberg Award for Innovation in Patient Safety, and Quality presented annually by The Joint Commission and the National Quality Forum (NQF), two leading organizations that set standards in patient care. This award is the highest patient safety and quality award in the country.
- St. Christopher's Hospital for Children is recognized for nursing excellence through our designation as a Magnet institution by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a distinction achieved by fewer than six percent of health care institutions nationwide.
- St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children was the only pediatric hospital in Pennsylvania to be named a 2018 Top Children’s Hospital by The Leapfrog Group.
