Every child deserves access to extraordinary healthcare and providers. At St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, we need your help and your generosity to make this goal a reality.

We dare to imagine and think boldly. To bring hope and healing to those in need through access to extraordinary providers and unsurpassed healthcare. To create the healthy futures that every child, no matter their background or family finances, deserves.

This will take a collective effort. Will you join us?

At St. Christopher’s, we are in, of, and for the community.

We were founded in 1875 as a charitable ambulatory clinic for a working-class neighborhood at a time of acute infectious disease, high infant mortality, and no public assistance. Those who could not afford care were not charged. Community outreach was an important part of our mission from day one, as volunteers visited families in their homes to offer support for nutrition, hygiene, and more.

Though medicine and our programs have changed, our commitment to health equity and providing access to equitable care has not. Since our founding, we have grown to offer nationally recognized programs and pediatric specialists who provide exceptional care in a nurturing, patient and family-centered environment, and a network of convenient satellite offices.

Excelling. Expanding. Thriving.

St. Christopher’s is an irreplaceable center of highly specialized care for children and a beacon of hope in a community serving some of the most vulnerable children in our region. Our goal is to remove barriers to equitable care. We will shine an unrelenting light on factors driving child health disparities, and address them with our community partners. Maintaining an essential resource like St. Christopher’s requires a community-wide commitment. Gifts made in support of St. Christopher’s will help transform healthcare for our patients and the region.

Why Support Us?

Our History

Open doors. Open hearts.

St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children opened its doors on November 30, 1875. At the time, we were a charitable ambulatory pediatric clinic, which meant children and families from the community could walk in to receive care. Our hospital took up one small room on the second floor of 552 Dauphin Street in Philadelphia.
