Education and Training

For more than 110 years, St. Chris has been training the next generation of physicians — and we've been providing continuing medical education for more than 60 years. We offer a variety of programs to prepare tomorrow's pediatric care providers, including:

  • Graduate medical education. We have pediatric residency and dental residency programs, as well as fellowship programs in several subspecialties. We provide comprehensive education and training for a career in academic medicine, private practice, or public health.
  • Medical lab science. We offer undergraduate and post-baccalaureate programs to train medical lab scientists.
  • Radiologic training. The on-site Philadelphia School of Radiologic Technology’s certification program teaches students to use X-ray and other imaging technology. Graduates are eligible for American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
  • Emergency medical services training. We train pre-hospital clinicians to care for children in 911 and critical care transport settings. Training opportunities include Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation. We also offer physician-led programs focused on injuries or illnesses such as traumatic brain injury, burn management, seizure disorders, and children with special needs.
  • Continuing medical education. We offer ongoing training for nurse practitioners, fellows, residents, and medical students at St. Chris.
  • Nursing education. New nurses receive an extensive orientation program, including classroom work and clinical experience, and a one-year mentoring program. Our nurses also work with area colleges to train new nurses.
