Doctors choosing our hospitalist/traditional track are those who see themselves in inpatient-based careers, including Pulmonary/Critical Care, Cardiology, Nephrology, and Hospitalist Medicine. All allopathic and osteopathic rotation inpatient and ambulatory requirements are met over the course of three years, but the structure allows focus on skills necessary for excellence in hospital medicine.
Features of the Track
- Teaching service rotations with team-based model and strong focus on evidence-based medicine and systems of care
- Hospital Medicine elective one-on-one with a hospitalist focuses on practical aspects and business of medicine
- Patient pool shared with non-teaching hospitalist service for a broad array of pathology and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Up to 3 months of research blocks available, in close collaboration with a clinical research mentor, our faculty research facilitator, and the head of our Research division
- Cutting-edge database mining tools for radiology, lab, and vital/demographic data
- Senior rounds for real-time evidence-based questions in small group format
- One-on-one and small group experiences in our Simulation Center to sharpen skills in clinical decision making, ACLS algorithms, and performance of procedures
- Rapid Response Team interdisciplinary training in our Simulation Center with Nursing and Respiratory Therapy
- Quality Improvement training provides skills needed to understand and impact complex systems of care to improve quality of care and patient safety
