We are proud of our long-standing tradition of training master clinicians and promoting academic success.

Pediatric residents learn primarily through supervised patient care in our urban, academic tertiary care center in both the outpatient setting and on inpatient units throughout the hospital's many sections.

A unique feature of our program is our attention to education. In addition to regular resident conferences (see here for more information), we provide a longitudinal seminar series to introduce educational and leadership topics to the developing professional, poising our graduates for success in both academic and community settings. Residents employ the skills learned in these conferences and seminars as they work closely with students from Drexel University College of Medicine, Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, and others.

Building on a carefully designed curriculum in general pediatrics, second-year residents select from one of three "pathways" which allow for a personalized and focused approach to the completion of their residency experience. The Primary Care Pathway is designed to address the needs of residents planning to enter a career in outpatient general pediatrics. The Inpatient Pathway provides experiences in inpatient medicine for those pursuing hospital-based careers, such as hospital medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, or neonatology. The Consultative Pathway serves the needs of residents who foresee a career that will have both outpatient and inpatient components (for example, those pursuing a subspecialty fellowship), as well as residents who remain undecided on a career path.
