The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship offers a three-year program for Pediatrics-trained applicants and a two-year program for Emergency Medicine -trained applicants. The program is ACGME accredited. We offer core rotations in our own high-volume, high-acuity department, as well as required rotations in Adult Emergency Medicine, Trauma, Child Abuse, Critical Care, Ultrasound, and Transport Medicine.

St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children is a free-standing tertiary care children’s hospital located in urban North Philadelphia. It serves as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma center as well as the regional Pediatric Burn Center. The Emergency Department is a high-volume, high-acuity academic department featuring fascinating pathology, a dynamic teaching environment, and excellent patient care.

Mission Statement
The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship trains excellent clinicians, educators, and researchers in a dynamic clinical and teaching environment. We serve an underserved patient population in a high-volume, high-acuity department as part of a full-scale tertiary care free-standing children’s hospital. All fellows gain knowledge and experience in core concepts of pediatric emergency medicine as well as experience in completing quality improvement and scholarly projects.

Training Sites
Tertiary care free-standing Children’s Hospital located in North Philadelphia. Level 1 trauma center as well as regional burn center. All pediatric subspecialties are available. The hospital supports a busy ICU with ECMO capability. The ED also has an active critical care transport team.
Eligibility Requirements
Successful completion of either a residency in General Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine.
